Biodefense startup Valthos raises $30 million in funding, with participation from OpenAI

ChainCatcher news, biotech defense startup Valthos has raised $30 million from the OpenAI Startup Fund, Lux Capital, and Founders Fund.

The AI system developed by the company can update medical responses based on the speed of biological threats, enabling researchers and government agencies to identify and respond to pathogens as quickly as possible. Valthos was founded in November last year in New York, and its leaders include: former Palantir Technologies life sciences head Kathleen McMahon, former Oxford University computational neuroscience researcher Tess van Stekelenburg, and founding AI engineer Victor Mao (who previously served as a research engineer at Google DeepMind).
