Musk said Tesla shareholders will vote on whether to invest in xAI

ChainCatcher news, Jin10 Data reported that after SpaceX is preparing to invest $2 billion in xAI, Musk stated that Tesla plans to hold a shareholder vote on whether to invest in xAI. In response to a post on X, Musk said that any decision to support xAI ultimately isn't one he can make. Last year, Musk publicly asked X users whether Tesla should invest $5 billion in xAI, at which time he wrote that he was just testing the waters.

However, he indicated that Tesla's board and supporters need to greenlight this decision. Tesla disclosed in April this year that xAI was a customer of Tesla last year, resulting in $188.3 million in expenditures from a commercial, consulting, and support agreement signed with Tesla. Most of this deal ($191 million) involved xAI purchasing Tesla's utility-scale energy storage battery, Megapack.
