Chao Ma currently works on privacy and scaling at the Ethereum Foundation. He was the CTO at Deeper Network, where he oversees the design and implementation of the Deeper public chain. Prior to this role, he worked as a machine learning scientist at Amazon. In 2017, he shifted his focus to researching blockchain networks and consensus algorithms, and developed a decentralized storage system from scratch. In 2018, he played a key role in the core development of the Harmony public chain and served as a protocol architect.
